You were created in the image of God—body, soul, and spirit.
But while many Christian women focus on soul care and spiritual growth, physical stewardship often gets overlooked.
This July, during UV Safety Month, let us pause and reflect:
Am I honoring God by taking care of the body He entrusted to me?
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you… and ye are not your own?”
— 1 Corinthians 6:19, KJV
UV exposure is one of the most preventable causes of premature aging, skin damage, and even skin cancer. But prevention is not just about vanity—it is about honoring the temple God gave you.
UV Safety Month is recognized each July to raise awareness about the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun.
Too much exposure can lead to:
Sunburn
Skin aging (wrinkles, sun spots)
Eye damage
Immune system suppression
Skin cancer (including deadly melanoma)
This common mindset is subtle, but dangerous. Many Christian women downplay physical risks or feel guilty spending time or money on personal care.
But here is the truth:
Truth Declaration:
“I honor God by caring for my body. I choose wisdom, protection, and health as acts of stewardship and obedience.”
1. Use sunscreen daily
Look for broad-spectrum (UVA & UVB) protection, SPF 30 or higher. Yes—even on cloudy days.
2. Reapply often
Every 2 hours when outdoors or immediately after swimming or sweating.
3. Cover up wisely
Wear long sleeves, wide-brimmed hats, and UV-blocking sunglasses.
4. Check your meds
Some medications increase sun sensitivity. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
5. Stay shaded during peak hours
UV rays are strongest between 10 AM and 4 PM.
6. Do monthly skin checks
Look for new spots or changes. Early detection saves lives.
7. Protect your children and aging loved ones
Teach the next generation how to steward their skin well.
Taking care of your body is not vanity—it is obedience.
Your skin is the largest organ you have. Shielding it from harm is a form of daily faith in action.
You would not leave your Bible out in the sun to fade and fray—why treat your body with less care?
Ask yourself:
Have I overlooked my physical health in the name of serving others?
How can I build UV safety into my summer habits?
What does it look like to care for my body as a holy temple?
“Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.”
— Proverbs 31:25, KJV
