💧 Honor God with Your Health:

By Coach Sandra | Life Coach for Ladies | Truth Mindset™ Strategist

March is National Kidney Month—a perfect time to pause, reflect, and take intentional steps toward better health.

As Christian women, we are not just caretakers of our homes and communities—we are also stewards of our bodies, temples of the Holy Spirit. That includes caring for organs we often overlook—like the kidneys.

Your kidneys may be small, but they do mighty work every single day to keep your body balanced, your blood clean, and your system functioning properly.

“Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you… and ye are not your own?” – 1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)

🧬 What Do Your Kidneys Do?

Your kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located just below your rib cage, one on each side of your spine. They have three major roles:

  1. Filter waste from your blood and remove it through urine

  2. Balance your body’s fluids, electrolytes, and blood pressure

  3. Support strong bones and red blood cell production

For women, hormonal changes, pregnancy, autoimmune disorders, and even stress can affect kidney function.

💡 Why Kidney Health Matters for Women

Did you know?

  • Women are more likely than men to develop autoimmune diseases like lupus, which can lead to kidney inflammation.

  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are more common in women—and frequent infections can cause kidney damage over time.

  • Pregnancy-related conditions like pre-eclampsia can temporarily affect kidney function and long-term risk.

  • Some studies suggest that estrogen levels may offer temporary protection but can mask underlying risk factors.

That means awareness + action = prevention and protection.

🔎 Warning Signs of Kidney Trouble

Be alert to these symptoms:

  • Swelling in hands, feet, or face

  • Fatigue or difficulty concentrating

  • High blood pressure

  • Foamy urine or blood in urine

  • Frequent or painful urination

  • Shortness of breath

Always speak with your healthcare provider if any of these signs appear.

🛡️ 5 Faith-Inspired Strategies to Protect Kidney Health

1. Hydrate with Purpose

Drink clean water throughout the day to support filtration. Water helps flush toxins and keeps kidneys functioning well.

📝 Goal: Aim for at least 8 cups of water daily unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” – Psalm 23:2 (KJV)

2. Eat with Stewardship

Reduce processed foods, limit added salt, and avoid excessive protein. Choose foods that nourish and support kidney function:

  • Leafy greens

  • Berries

  • Apples

  • Cauliflower

  • Red bell peppers

📝 Tip: Use herbs and spices for flavor instead of salt.

3. Move in Gratitude

Physical activity supports healthy blood pressure and weight management—both important for kidney health.

📝 Aim for 30 minutes a day, even a simple walk with prayerful reflection.

“For in him we live, and move, and have our being...” – Acts 17:28 (KJV)

4. Pray for Peace Over Stress

Chronic stress raises blood pressure, which strains kidneys. Practice deep breathing, daily prayer, and reflection on Scripture to guard your peace.

📝 Truth Declaration™: “I rest in God’s presence. My body functions in peace and alignment.”

5. Check Your Health Metrics

Regular check-ups are a form of stewardship. Get your blood pressure, blood sugar, and kidney function checked, especially if you have a family history of kidney disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure.

📝 Knowledge is not fear—it is wisdom in action.

“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” – Proverbs 27:12 (KJV)

🙌 A Truth Mindset™ Perspective

It is easy to downplay our health, especially when we are caring for others. But lie-locked thoughts like:

  • “I do not have time to care for myself.”

  • “It is selfish to focus on my body.”

  • “It is too late to start healthy habits.”

…must be replaced with God’s truth.

Truth Declaration™: “I am a temple of the Holy Spirit. I honor God with my health.”

💬 Final Encouragement

Your kidneys may be hidden, but their impact is felt in every cell of your body.
This month, let National Kidney Month be a wake-up call and a worship moment—to care for your body as an act of gratitude and obedience.

You are not called to exhaustion or avoidance. You are called to stewardship, healing, and intentional living—all to the glory of God.

Proverbs 31:25 (KJV)“Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.”
