Focus on Good this Thanksgiving

life coaching Nov 25, 2021

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.” – Psalm 100:1-5 KJV

It is easy to get focused on what you do not like or what is not working in your life.  If you are not careful, that is all you think about. Our future continues to be unclear as we move into our second Thanksgiving of the ‘COVID-19 pandemic’. But, God joins us in our pain and disappointments. So, there has never been a more important time to exercise gratitude and enjoy the simple moments in life.

Even during our darkest times, there is so much to be thankful for and Thanksgiving Day is a great reminder of just that. With so much negativity and disagreement in our country, and world, I invite you to focus on good this Thanksgiving. It is easy to be caught up in the whirlwind that is Thanksgiving Day. Make time on this busy day to count your blessings, give thanks to the Lord, and share some gratitude. with others

“Even in the trials of life, if we have eyes to see them, we can find good things everywhere we look.” — Joanna Gaines

In some seasons of our lives, being grateful is difficult. Women find themselves inundated with situations and underwhelmed with connections. With anxious minds and aching hearts, it goes against our nature to give thanks. But that is exactly what the Lord asks of us. Regardless of how things are going for you currently, there are still things that are great and that you appreciate.

Although this year's celebrations may look different, again, getting your focus back to gratitude is always a great idea. Thanksgiving is a holiday to gather with loved ones, celebrate, give thanks for many blessings and, of course, eat. Do not overlook the power of Thanksgiving prayers as you gather around the table.

"Thanksgiving Day is a good day to recommit our energies to giving thanks and just giving." - Amy Grant

In each difficult situation, God gives us signs of hope in a blessed silver lining. It is the place where God is working all things together for good. It is where the hidden blessings are stored. They are sometimes challenging to find, but they are always there. The secret to giving thanks in all circumstances is to find His blessed silver lining. Keep that in mind this week.  What are the things that you are grateful for that you have not acknowledged in a while? It could be your kids, your spouse, your work, a specific friend, an upcoming trip, etc.

A Thanksgiving Day Prayer

“O Heavenly Father: we thank Thee for food and remember the hungry. We thank Thee for health and remember the sick. We thank Thee for friends and remember the friendless. We thank Thee for freedom and remember the enslaved. May these remembrances stir us to service. That Thy gifts to us may be used for others. Amen.“ - Dear Abby Columnist

Your affirmation for today is:

I am thankful for today.

You have so much to be thankful for today.

Your breath.

Your time.

Your passion.

Say thank you.

Look at the things you do today as things you get to do....not things you have to do.

You get to be alive today.

You get to do things others wish they could.

Don't take all of this for granted.

Be grateful for today.

As always, I am thankful for you wonderful women of worth! Enjoy your day and for those of you that are celebrating Thanksgiving here in the States, I wish you and your family the best. Happy Thanksgiving!
