As Christian women, we are called to steward everything the Lord entrusts to us—including our time, our talents, our relationships, and yes… our bodies.

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you… and ye are not your own?” – 1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)

January is Cervical Cancer Screening Awareness Month, and it is a timely reminder to not only care for our spiritual health—but also to be intentional about our physical well-being.

Let us talk openly and honestly about cervical health, why it matters, and how to honor God by taking preventative action.

💛 Why Cervical Health Matters

Your cervix is the lower part of your uterus and plays a vital role in reproductive and overall health. Cervical cancer was once one of the most common causes of cancer death for women in the U.S., but thanks to regular screenings and education, it has become one of the most preventable.

Still, many women delay or avoid screening—often from fear, discomfort, or simply putting others first.

But sister, your health is not an afterthought to God.

Caring for your body is not selfish—it is worship through stewardship.

📊 Key Facts About Cervical Cancer

  • Most cervical cancer is caused by persistent infection with high-risk strains of HPV (human papillomavirus).

  • It often has no early symptoms, which makes regular screening essential.

  • Pap tests (Pap smears) and HPV tests are the main tools for early detection.

  • When caught early, cervical cancer is highly treatable and often curable.

🩺 What You Can Do: Stewardship in Action

✅ 1. Schedule Your Screening

Women should begin Pap testing around age 21 and follow their healthcare provider’s recommendation based on age and health history. Most women need screening every 3–5 years.

“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” – Proverbs 27:12 (KJV)

Taking preventive action is wise stewardship.

✅ 2. Understand Your Risk

Family history, immune health, and previous test results all affect your personal risk. Open dialogue with your doctor can lead to proactive steps for protection.

✅ 3. Encourage Other Women

Many Christian women hesitate to prioritize their own health. Share this message with your sisters, friends, and daughters. Together, we can break the silence and promote healing through awareness.

🙏 Whole Health Is Holy Health

Your health journey is not separate from your faith journey. God designed your body with purpose, and He expects us to care for it—not out of fear, but out of gratitude and trust.

When we prioritize wellness, we are better equipped to fulfill our calling, love our families, and serve in the Kingdom.

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” – 3 John 1:2 (KJV)

🌸 Final Thoughts

January is not just a new beginning—it is a time to recommit to living intentionally. If you have been putting off your cervical screening, let this be your sign to schedule it. Not in fear—but in faithful stewardship.

You are valuable. Your health matters. And honoring your body is one more way to glorify the One who created it.
